The world of Steampunk
Sometimes there are things that are obviously popular or have a huge following and I’m just oblivious to it. Steampunk is one of those things. Actually, to be honest, I knew of the stylings of steampunk… I’ve seen it in various movies (The City of Lost Children, 12 Monkeys, Hellboy, Van Helsing, The Time Machine, etc...) but I guess I didn’t know there was such a huge following. After I did a little more online research, I found out it’s quite huge… pretty much anything and everything has a steampunk interpretation. Dolls, jewelry, action figures, cars, boats… the list goes on.

Steampunk is a subgenre of fantasy and speculative fiction that came into prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century, and often set in Victorian era England—but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date. Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of “the path not taken” of such technology as dirigibles or analog computers; these frequently are presented in an idealized light, or a presumption of functionality. ~Wikipedia

There is a ton of stuff online… very beautiful stuff… and if I wasn’t so worried about the next great technological gadget, I may be willing to spend the money on one of the steampunk computers (or keyboards). Simply amazing stuff.
